DESCRIPTION
STAR TROWEL GRADE
CRACK FILLER is especially designed for repairing cracks wider than
3/4'. The product is easily trowelable into cracks. It protects the
pavements by stopping water and other damaging chemicals from seeping
into the cracks. Formulated with polymers, select mineral fillers, specialty
chemicals and asphalt emulsion, STAR TROWEL GRADE CRACK FILLER, is ideal
for repairing cracks as well as surface imperfections (bird baths, depressions,
etc.) in asphalt pavements.
OUTSTANDING

Tough. Flexible
and Durable, it is rubberized with poly-mers and reinforced with specialty
chemicals and minerals.
Cold-Pour and
Ready to use. Being asphalt emulsion based, STAR TROWEL GRADE CRACK
FILLER does not require any pre-heating and is ready to use straight
from the container without any extensive mixing.
Compatible with
both coal tar and asphalt emulsion based sealers.
Safe to apply
and water clean up. Will not burn and after application tools can be
easily cleaned up with water.
RECOMMENDED
USES
STAR TROWEL GRADE
CRACK FILLER is recommended for filling cracks wider than 1/2" in asphalt.
Surface defects can also be repaired
by using STAR TROWEL GRADE CRACK FILLER in multiple lifts, if desired.
COVERAGE
75 - 80 linear
feet per gallon for cracks with 1/2" x 1/2" cross section. The coverage
rates will vary with different depths and widths of the cracks.
Bird baths and
other surface depressions shall require approximately one gallon for
13 sq feet area with 1/8" depression.
DILUTION
None required.
For finer cracks the viscosity can be slightly reduced by adding small
quantities (max. 5% by volume) of clean potable water.
APPLICATION
1. Clean dust
and dirt and backfill the cracks with sand or backer rods if deeper
than 1 ". Do not back fill cracks less than 1/2" deep. Bird baths and
other imperfect surfaces shall be primed for good adhesion with STAR
ONE STEP, if they appear oxidized and excessively gray. Asphalt emulsion
(SS-1-H), pre-mixed with 5 volumes of water can be used alternatively
for tack coat.
2. Stir the contents
in the container to re-disperse minor separations of the material on
the top. Apply with a suitable tool. Trowel, flexible rubber squeegee
(24 - 30"width. 50 Shore durometer hardness rubber) etc. can be used.
Areas to be repaired
(cracks and depressions) shall not have any free standing water, though
can be damp.
3. Allow to cure
before sealcoating and / or opening to traffic. The cure time will vary
according to weather conditions. Under ideal conditions (80 deg. F.
and 50% Relative Humidity), the crack filler will cure within 4 hours
to be suitable for sealcoating over the crack filled areas.
PRECAUTIONS
Do not apply if rain is imminent
within 8 hours.
Wash tools immediately with water.
Use paint thinner to clean the tools if the material has dried and hardened.
Do not apply if ambient and or surface temperatures. exceeding 100 deg.
F. Keep from freezing.
Do not store
in direct sunlight or temperatures exceeding 100 deg. F.
Keep the containers tightly closed
when not in use. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.
